Invested in Positive Impacts

"Invested in Positive Impacts" reflects our unwavering commitment to inspiring our community through meaningful actions. In our ongoing dedication to sustainability, we have introduced a series of initiatives under the #DorsettCares programme.

During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, we took proactive steps to ensure your safety and well-being. Our commitment to hygiene and wellness led us to install air purifiers in all our guest rooms, ensuring optimal ventilation and air quality.

But we didn’t stop there. In 2023, we celebrated World Environment Day with our inaugural Positive Impacts Week. Across our hotels, we raised awareness and implemented programs that give back to our communities. During this inspiring week, 1,700 individuals joined us, collectively taking 3,944,390 steps during outdoor walks. And at Dorsett Gold Coast, we proudly adopted a koala, supporting conservation efforts at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

Highlights:
  • Dorsett Shepherd’s Bush: Our team volunteered to clean up the London city area and revitalised the rear garden to boost biodiversity
  • Dorsett Chengdu: We organised a Natural Landmark Photo Competition to encourage nature appreciation
  • Dorsett Shanghai: Our team’s efforts focused on cleaning up litter in the city park to improve cleanliness
  • Dorsett Wanchai: We offer guests sprout adoption and unveil our new Green Corner at lobby
  • Lan Kwai Fong@Kau U Fong: We organised a beach cleanup volunteering event to enhance Hong Kong’s natural landscape
      • Chinese medicine and culture research centre.
    • Biodiversity

      Our partnership project

Recognising the importance of preserving biodiversity, DHI has transformed 40,000 sq ft farmland into an environmental conservation area and a Traditional Chinese Medicinal Research Farm with the Chinese Pharmacy Department of the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) to create a Chinese Medicine and Culture Research Centre. This 3-year sponsorship, with a matching grant from the government, will enable the school to research, promote Chinese Medicine Culture and preserve the biodiversity of the farmland.

One of the innovation products of this project is the launch of the herbal tea (涼茶) 3.0 which is our Sparkling Herbal Tea in coallboration with Mindful Sparks. The team has pioneered to experiment three flavours with Chinese Medicine namely Malamanzi Merr Tea, White Lingzhi Pear Tea with Lemon, and Thin Evodia Cacao Husk Tea. We have selected two flavours for our initial sales batch and will gather feedback for potential commercialisation. Currently, these two flavours can be tasted in our Dorsett Wanchai, Dorsett Kwun Tong and Silka Tsuen Wan hotels.

      Caring for our local communities

Hotels thrive thanks to the support of local communities. Our commitment to Positive Impact extends beyond business—it’s about investing in our community. By creating jobs and enhancing social assets and educational opportunities, we contribute to the wellbeing of our neighbours.

On a practical level, we collaborate with local NGOs to address specific needs, whether through sponsorships, gifting or volunteering. Our care and companionship reach those who need it most.

    • Sustainability Policy

      Governance for commitment

In June 2023, Our Group established our Sustainability Policy to govern and guide our hotel’s actions and goals with the environment, community, and our stakeholders in mind. The policy aims to ensure compliance with local regulations in jurisdictions where we operate and to ensure meaningful partnerships and collaborations for our guests and communities.

      Our Sustainability Policy aims to:

      • Ensure compliance with local regulations in the jurisdictions we operate and foster integrity across our operations
      • Realise the Company’s impact on its communities
      • Manage our environmental footprint by committing to responsible procurement practices, reducing consumption of resources, and minimising waste
      • Creating shared value throughout for external and internal stakeholders
      • Ensuring a better future for the next generation
      • Fostering meaningful partnerships and collaborations to meet guest satisfaction and benefit our local communities

      Managing Our Environmental Footprint

With hotels in over 23 cities worldwide, we recognize our responsibility to manage our environmental footprint under our Group’s sustainability pillars. To ensure our suppliers and deliverables are environmentally considerate, we have implemented sustainability procurement practices to enforce our standards. We are also exploring further collaborations with our suppliers to provide more eco-friendly products.

Conserving resources, from utilities to linen usage, is of utmost importance to us. In our housekeeping operations, our teams practice upcycling by reusing worn linen as tablecloths. We continue to foster creativity and encourage our team to accelerate our transition to a circular economy.

Currently, we have taken the following environmental measures to manage our eco-footprint properly:

      • Achieved EarthCheck Silver Certification at Dorsett Wanchai, Dorsett Mongkok, and Cosmo Hotel
      • All hotels in Hong Kong have phased out free single-use plastic amenities as of April 2024
      • Introduced Urban Spring in all our Dorsett branded hotels in Hong Kong, eliminating bottled water distribution in guest rooms
      • Removed single-use items from our hotel catering in Hong Kong, the UK, and Malaysia
      • Partnered with Far East Consortium to support the Lai See Reuse and Recycle Programme organized by Greeners Action
